A two-storey building collapsed on Tuesday evening at 4, Modupeola Street, Mangoro bus stop in the Agege area of Lagos State.
The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m., left six people trapped beneath the rubble. Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other first responders arrived promptly at the scene and rescued all the victims.
According to the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, five of those rescued sustained minor injuries and were taken to a private hospital nearby for treatment.
One victim, a 44-year-old man who suffered a fracture and bruises, was taken by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Surgical Emergency unit. He was said to be in stable condition and has since been admitted for further treatment.
The state government has launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, which was not immediately known as of press time.
