Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, and Puffy, has been sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty in his high-profile federal sex crime case.

The sentencing took place on Friday in a Manhattan federal courtroom before Judge Arun Subramanian, who delivered a scathing rebuke of the 55-year-old entertainment mogul.

“You abused them physically, emotionally and psychologically,” Subramanian told Combs during the nearly six-hour hearing, according to The New York Post. “Why did it happen for so long? Because you had the power and resources to keep it going, and because you didn’t get caught. A meaningful sentence is needed to protect the public from further crimes.”

The decision followed two months of harrowing testimony from victims, which jurors said painted a disturbing picture of Combs’ violent and exploitative lifestyle.

Combs’ 50-month sentence is shorter than the five-to-six years recommended under federal sentencing guidelines and far below the 11 years prosecutors had pushed for. However, it is more than the 14-month time-served sentence his defense team had argued he deserved.

Speaking before the court, Combs pleaded for leniency, expressing remorse and admitting his faults.

“My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will forever have to carry,” he said. “I’m not this larger-than-life person, I’m just a human being. I got lost in excess, I got lost in my ego. I beg for another chance.”
