A fresh wave of controversy has erupted around Senate President Godswill Akpabio after his sister-in-law, Pat Akpabio, released a scathing video accusing him of complicity in a series of unresolved killings allegedly linked to his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

In the viral Facebook video posted on October 11, Pat — a pastor, businesswoman, and wife of Akpabio’s brother, Ibanga Akpabio — launched a blistering attack on the Senate President, alleging that “many lives were lost” under his watch as governor and even after he assumed his current office.

“For all the people you people have killed when you were governor, and those you people have killed now that you are in the Senate — it will never be well with you,” Pat declared in the emotionally charged video.

The outspoken entrepreneur, known for her frequent social media criticism of Akpabio, accused him of betraying long-time political allies, including former minister Umana Okon Umana, Nsima Ekere, Akan Udofia, and Senator Bassey Albert.

She further vowed to challenge Akpabio in the 2027 senatorial election, claiming he had “forgotten those who helped him rise politically.”

“You used people to climb and then abandoned them. In 2027, I will face you in the ballot,” she warned.

Pat also directed her message at President Bola Tinubu, advising him to be wary of the Senate President, whom she described as “a very wicked man.” She alleged that Akpabio had neglected his hometown, Ukana Ikot Ntuen, which she claimed had been without electricity for several weeks.

In a dramatic twist, Pat alleged that Akpabio once accused her husband of murder and absconding with money after the 2019 elections, deepening what appears to be a long-standing family rift.

Reacting to the viral accusations, Akpabio’s spokesperson, Eseme Eyiboh, dismissed the claims as baseless, malicious, and politically motivated.

“If she is aware of any killing, she should report to the security agencies. Murder is a serious crime, not something to use for political vendetta. Whoever asserts must prove,” Eyiboh stated.

He described the Senate President as “a humble and family-oriented man,” accusing Pat of “seeking attention” and exploiting her family connection for clout.

“The Senate President is very busy. I think she’s just doing this to draw attention to herself,” he added.

The explosive allegations have ignited a firestorm on social media and within Akwa Ibom’s political circles, with many viewing the feud as both a family implosion and a political showdown in the making ahead of 2027.
