The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic management plan ahead of the rehabilitation of Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo Local Government Area, with the project scheduled to begin on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The rehabilitation, expected to last three weeks, will be carried out in two phases and is scheduled for completion on Friday, September 18, 2026.
According to the Lagos State Government, the first phase will cover the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo section of the bridge from August 28 to September 11, while the second phase will focus on the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo section from September 12 to September 18.
As part of the traffic management measures, Oke-Afa Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the rehabilitation.
During the first phase, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout, where traffic will operate in both directions before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.
Motorists coming from Ejigbo will continue to move freely but will share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound motorists between Mobil Filling Station and Pako Roundabout. They will regain full access to the road after Pako Roundabout.
For the second phase, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station. Traffic will move in both directions along the carriageway before motorists rejoin the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.
Meanwhile, motorists coming from Isolo will maintain free movement while sharing the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic between Pako Roundabout and Mobil Filling Station.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy personnel to the area to coordinate traffic and reduce delays during the rehabilitation period.
The state government also said an emergency tow vehicle would be stationed within the axis throughout the project to promptly remove vehicles that break down and help minimise disruptions to traffic flow.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic directions during the rehabilitation.
He explained that the partial closure was part of the traffic management arrangement for the rehabilitation being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works, through the Office of the Federal Controller, Lagos, in collaboration with Messrs. Strabic Construction Limited.
The state government advised motorists using the Oke-Afa-Isolo-Ejigbo corridor to plan their journeys ahead and cooperate with traffic officials throughout the duration of the works.
