Police recover 75 mobile phones, 5 laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects in Ikeja

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered a large cache of electronic gadgets reportedly abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in Ikeja.

The recovery, which took place around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, followed the interception of two suspects who fled upon sighting the operatives near Allen Roundabout, leaving behind two large “Ghana Must Go” bags.

Upon inspection, the RRS team discovered 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones—including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor brands—five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.

The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said preliminary investigations indicated that the items were stolen property hastily abandoned by the suspects. He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaim.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and swift response, praising their professionalism and dedication to duty. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive strategies aimed at enhancing public safety across the state.
