The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled November 20, 2025, as the date to deliver judgment in the terrorism case involving Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Justice James Omotosho announced the decision on Friday after ruling that Kanu’s continued refusal to present his defence amounted to a waiver of his rights. The IPOB leader had insisted he would not proceed with his defence under what he described as a repealed legal framework.

The judge emphasized that the court had provided every constitutional opportunity for Kanu to defend himself under Section 36, which guarantees fair hearing. However, Justice Omotosho stated that the trial could not be stalled indefinitely.

“Having been given the required opportunity and declining to take it, the defendant has voluntarily waived his right,” the judge ruled, before fixing the judgment date.

Kanu has been standing trial on multiple terrorism-related charges following his interception and return to Nigeria in 2021. The upcoming judgment is expected to be a significant milestone in the long-running legal battle between the IPOB leader and the Federal Government.
