The Abia State Government has paid ₦25 million towards the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, following her public appeal for financial assistance to undergo urgent surgery.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, announced on Thursday that Governor Alex Otti approved the payment, which was made directly to the hospital where the actress is receiving treatment.

According to JMartins, the governor fulfilled his promise by authorising the transfer before the close of work on Wednesday, describing the gesture as a demonstration of compassion and support for one of Nollywood’s respected veterans.

Nwosu, 62, had revealed last week that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and needed ₦30 million to undergo three urgent surgeries. In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, the actress appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers not to abandon her as she battles an undisclosed illness.

The state government’s intervention covers a substantial portion of the amount required for her medical care.
