What happened inside a guest house in Gwarimpa before a man’s body was found beneath a bridge in Abuja has become the subject of a police investigation.
The case began with a missing-person report after the man disappeared, prompting his family to search for him.
Days later, his lifeless body was discovered under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway, initially raising suspicions that he might have been kidnapped or robbed in a “one chance” operation.
However, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command said its investigation uncovered a trail that led from the deceased’s missing mobile phone to a woman in Garki Area 2 and eventually to a guest house in Gwarimpa.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed the details on Saturday, September 26, 2026, while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Abuja.
According to Sanusi, investigators identified the body as that of the man whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family.
A major breakthrough came from efforts to trace his missing mobile phone and establish his final known contacts.
Although the phone had been switched off, police traced the man’s last known communication to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2.
Further investigation, according to the police, revealed that Muhammed was a married woman who had been in a romantic relationship with the deceased.
Investigators also discovered that she had saved his number under the name “Safiyat.”
The investigation subsequently led detectives to Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where police said the deceased and Muhammed had lodged.
Sanusi said Muhammed later discovered that the man was no longer breathing.
Rather than immediately contacting the police, she allegedly left the guest house with his mobile phone.
Hours later, hotel management reportedly tried to reach the occupants but could not make contact.
When staff eventually gained access to the room, they found the man’s body inside.
Police alleged that instead of reporting the discovery, two members of the hotel management, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, moved the body from the guest house.
The two men allegedly transported the body to the Kubwa Expressway, near Katampe, where it was abandoned beneath the bridge.
The discovery of the body subsequently drew the attention of the authorities and led to further investigation.
However, police have yet to establish exactly how the man died.
Sanusi said the investigation was still ongoing and that the circumstances surrounding the death had not been conclusively determined.
The police are therefore investigating what happened inside the guest house, the events leading to the man’s death and the roles allegedly played by those who came into contact with him afterward.
The commissioner said anyone found to have been involved in the man’s death, concealment or abandonment of his body would face the law.
The investigation has consequently shifted from the initial suspicion of kidnapping or a “one chance” robbery to a trail involving a guest house, a woman who allegedly knew the deceased intimately and two hotel workers accused of moving his body.
For now, the central question remains unanswered: what exactly happened to the man inside the Gwarimpa guest house?
The FCT Police Command said further investigative procedures are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
