Comptroller Wale Adenuga has started work as the new Customs Area Controller of the Seme Area Command in Lagos, taking over from Dr. Benedict Oramalugo.
Adenuga said he would focus on speeding up trade processes, improving revenue, reducing smuggling, and strengthening cooperation with other agencies to support legitimate business.
He explained that trade facilitation would remain his top priority because proper declarations by stakeholders would lead to faster cargo clearance, more revenue, and less room for illegal trade.
Adenuga added that he would work closely with the DSS, Police, Immigration, NDLEA, Military, and NAFDAC to keep the border safe and promote economic growth.
He told traditional rulers, the youth of Badagry, and the media that he would maintain open communication with them.
He also promised to lead by example and ensure his officers stayed disciplined and committed.
The new controller said he would build on the gains achieved under Oramalugo, which included the suppression of smuggling, improved revenue collection, and smoother trade facilitation.
Oramalugo thanked the Customs management and his officers for their support and urged stakeholders to cooperate fully with his successor.
