The first prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of Jude Chigozie Okoye, elder brother and former manager of music duo P-Square, has told a Lagos High Court that the defendant’s wife, Ifeoma holds 800,000 shares in Northside Music Limited.

Testifying before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on Friday, PW1 Peter Obumuneme Okoye said the company’s bank statements presented in court reflected transactions tied to his and his brother’s joint business interest.

“These statements of account belong to me and my brother. We are P-Square. The company belongs to Peter and Paul. It was registered by him. I reported to the EFCC when I discovered funds were being diverted, and EFCC brought the matter to court,” he said.

Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, are being prosecuted by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a four-count charge bordering on theft of over $1 million. The defendant has pleaded not guilty.

While being cross-examined, PW1 said he discovered that another company, Northside Entertainment, was allegedly diverting their funds and reported his findings to his brother. He also affirmed that he petitioned the EFCC through his lawyer, and that the defendant’s wife is listed as a major shareholder.

Efforts by defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), to tender documents purportedly attached to the original EFCC petition were opposed by prosecution counsel M. K. Bashir, who argued that the documents, though stamped as Certified True Copies (CTC), were not in proper legal form.

Justice Oshodi upheld the objection, ruling that the documents did not meet admissibility requirements. “I reject the documents and mark them as rejected,” he declared.

The witness also confirmed that he wrote a statement at the EFCC after his lawyer filed the petition.

The case was adjourned to February 20 and 27, 2026 for continuation of trial.
