The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers for allegedly providing unauthorised security at the wedding ceremony of popular content creators Peller and Jarvis in Lekki, Lagos.
The soldiers, identified as Privates Onasanya Ifeoluwa and Ukpai Onyinyechi, are attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH), Obalende, Lagos.
They were taken into custody after videos from the wedding surfaced on social media showing them in full military uniform acting as personal security aides, controlling access to the venue and escorting guests.
The footage sparked widespread public criticism, with many questioning the deployment of serving military personnel to a private social event.
Military authorities confirmed the arrest of the soldiers, stating that they violated existing Nigerian Army regulations, which prohibit personnel from undertaking unofficial private security duties or serving as bouncers at civilian events.
The Army said preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to establish whether other military personnel were involved in the unauthorised deployment.
The two soldiers are expected to face disciplinary action in line with military laws and regulations if found culpable.
