The President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (UK), has expressed profound gratitude to members of the association for electing her as their next president, promising to lead with integrity, humility, courage and accountability.
In a message issued after her victory, Badejo-Okusanya said she was deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in her by members of the NBA, describing the outcome of the election as a collective victory for everyone who believed in her vision of “A BOLDER BAR THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE.”
She thanked members who supported her aspiration, as well as her fellow contestants for strengthening the association’s democratic process and all lawyers who participated in the election.
The president-elect also acknowledged the contributions of the BBOLD Campaign Council, volunteers, coordinators, supporters, friends and colleagues, saying their unwavering commitment, sacrifice and belief made her successful campaign possible.
She extended special appreciation to her husband, family, mentors and all those who offered prayers, encouragement and support throughout the campaign.
Declaring that the electioneering process had ended, Badejo-Okusanya said the focus would now shift to delivering on her promises to members of the association.
“The campaign is over. The work begins now,” she said.
She pledged to serve every member of the Nigerian Bar Association with integrity, humility, courage and accountability, while working to build an association where lawyers can “earn better, live better, and practise better.”
Badejo-Okusanya concluded by thanking members once again for the honour of leading the association and prayed for God’s blessings upon the Nigerian Bar Association and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
