Popular TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and his associate, Bello Oladipo, have been granted bail by a Lagos Magistrate Court after being arraigned over an altercation with police officers on the Lagos Coastal Road.
The duo appeared before the court on Sunday on a three-count charge bordering on allegedly resisting public officers, obstructing them in the discharge of their lawful duties, and engaging in conduct capable of causing a breach of public peace during the encounter.
The charges arose from an incident on July 2 when Peller was stopped by police for allegedly driving a vehicle without a number plate. While Peller reportedly told officers he had just purchased the car, the police insisted he accompany them to the station. The encounter later escalated after he began recording the incident on his phone.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court admitted them to bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each with two sureties. One of the sureties must be a blood relative, while the defendants are also required to provide two years’ tax clearance certificates as part of the bail conditions.
