Two bodyguards attached to former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, have been confirmed dead following a road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Monday.

A credible source disclosed that the fatal crash occurred when the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) conveying Joshua collided with a stationary truck on the ever-busy highway. The source confirmed that the two victims were members of the boxer’s security detail.

Confirming the incident in an official statement, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Joshua sustained only minor injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention.

“The vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua, a Lexus SUV, was involved in an accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated,” Babaseyi said. “He was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries, and is receiving medical care.”

He added that two other occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.

DSP Babaseyi noted that a full investigation has commenced to determine the exact cause of the crash.
