Detty December Fest 2025 has concluded in Lagos, capping a month-long celebration of music, culture and live performances that drew massive crowds to the Ilubirin waterfront.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the festival, held from Dec. 7 to Dec. 29, was organised in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy. Dubbed “Africa’s Real Summer,” the event featured a four-highlight-day programme within a broader series of cultural and musical experiences throughout December.
Organisers said the festival has firmly established itself as one of Africa’s most anticipated end-of-year events, culminating in electrifying performances by international and African music stars before hundreds of enthusiastic fans.
Global hip-hop icons Busta Rhymes and Gunna headlined the festival, attracting international attention to the Lagos-based showcase. African music heavyweights including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Phyno, Fave, Juma Jux, Qing Madi and Diamond Platnumz also delivered standout performances.
The festival opened on Dec. 7 with a theatrical spectacle featuring aerial ballerinas, setting the tone for the month-long programme. Opening night performances came from Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Ice Prince, Darey, Fola, Shoday and Jerry Shaffer, blending music, striking stage design and live artistry.
Speaking on the collaboration, Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, described Detty December Fest as “a defining contributor” to Nigeria’s cultural ecosystem, noting its role in boosting global visibility for Nigerian creativity and driving holiday tourism.
Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Livespot360, Deola Art-Alade, said the strong turnout reflected Lagos residents’ growing appetite for live music, adding that Ilubirin proved the city’s readiness to host world-class entertainment events.
Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Darey Art-Alade, said the festival was designed to capture the vibrant spirit of Lagos, noting that the positive response from artistes and fans affirmed the creative vision behind the event.
NAN reports that Detty December Fest 2025 has set a new benchmark for live entertainment in Lagos, reinforcing Detty December’s role as a major driver of culture, tourism and economic activity, with organisers expressing confidence in the festival’s continued global growth.
