The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has applauded the Lagos State Police Command for arresting an app-based driver, Adedayo Adegbola accused of multiple incidents of rape, assault and defilement of female passengers across the state.

In a statement posted on its official X handle @Lagosdsva on Sunday, the agency praised the police for their professionalism and swift action in tracking down the suspect. It noted that the agency is working closely with law enforcement to ensure the suspect faces full prosecution and justice is delivered to the survivors.

“We commend the police for their professionalism and dedication in apprehending the suspect,” the agency stated.

DSVA also urged other victims to come forward with additional information to support the ongoing investigation, assuring that their identities would remain protected and that survivors would be provided psychological, legal, and medical support.

“Your courage in speaking out can help bring full justice and prevent future harm,” it added, while providing multiple confidential reporting channels including a toll-free hotline, email, WhatsApp, and USSD code.

Reaffirming its zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, the agency emphasized that such crimes remain a serious concern to the Lagos State Government and called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious acts.

Earlier, the Lagos Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest in a Saturday statement. She disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on Friday at about 9:40 a.m. after several victims shared their horrific encounters on social media, which prompted a discreet investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh.

She added that a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, allegedly used in the crimes, has been recovered as evidence to aid prosecution.
