The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of all private and commercial jetties, as well as terminals along the Five Cowries Creek, from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5, 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), the government said the measure is to facilitate the successful hosting of the E1 Championship, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing tournament, scheduled to hold in Lagos during the period.

According to LASWA, restricting activities on the waterways is a critical safety and security step aimed at ensuring smooth event operations, protecting lives, and showcasing Lagos as a global destination for international sporting events.

The statement added that normal operations at all affected jetties and terminals will resume on Monday, October 6, 2025.

“All waterway users are advised to cooperate by using alternative ferry routes and making travel arrangements in advance. The Lagos State Government appreciates your patience and understanding as we work together to deliver this historic world championship,” it noted.
