Egbin Power Plc has resumed electricity generation with an output of 433 megawatts following the completion of maintenance works on its cooling system.

The company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Felix Ofulue, disclosed on Wednesday in Lagos that operations had stabilised, with available generating units now functioning optimally to support improved power supply to the national grid.

According to him, the maintenance exercise was aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring reliable electricity generation.

“Operations have resumed and the units are working optimally. As of Wednesday morning, the plant was generating 433 megawatts to the national grid,” he said.

Ofulue explained that engineers and technical personnel successfully completed maintenance on the cooling infrastructure, leading to the gradual restoration of generation across the plant’s units.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to operational efficiency, safety standards and enhanced power generation capacity.

Industry stakeholders noted that the restoration of generation from the plant would help strengthen electricity supply and improve grid stability nationwide.

Egbin Power Plant, located in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has an installed capacity of 1,320MW, with six generating units of 220MW each.

The plant remains the largest thermal power generation station in Nigeria and a major contributor to electricity supply across the country.
