Relief items were distributed to people affected by a windstorm in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, located in Akwa Ibom (A’Ibom) State.
The distribution took place on Monday, as part of efforts to support victims of a recent windstorm that destroyed property and disrupted lives.
The relief was given to help people recover from the damage and hardship caused by the disaster.
It was carried out by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) under the Federal Government’s Special Intervention Programme.
NEMA’s Head of Operations in the state, Mrs. Mmandu Aisueni, was represented by Mr. Awoji Augustine.
Also present was the federal lawmaker for the area, Rep. Unyime Idem, represented by Mr. Nsennam George.
NEMA shared items such as 300 bags of rice and garri (25kg each), 150 cartons of spaghetti, and 30 cartons each of vegetable oil, tomato paste, and seasoning cubes, along with 30 bags of iodised salt.
Aisueni said the support was a sign of care and solidarity, not just material help.
She encouraged the victims to stay hopeful and rebuild.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Grace Udosen, thanked the Federal Government for the support and said the items would help ease the suffering caused by the disaster.
The agency also promised to continue working with local partners to ensure long-term recovery and safety for affected communities.
