A fire broke out at the Bono Tank Farm, located within the Best Energy Tank Farm complex in Ibafon, Apapa, Lagos, on Friday morning, following an explosion-like sound that caused panic among residents and workers.

The blaze prompted an emergency response from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), whose fire service teams were deployed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby tank farms and facilities.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident, assuring that firefighters and other emergency responders were fully engaged at the scene. She added that no casualties had been recorded as of the time of reporting.

Meanwhile, efforts to obtain comments from the management of Bono Tank Farm and Best Energy Tank Farm were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to their representatives went unanswered.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations into the cause of the fire are expected to commence.
