An eyewitness has recounted details of the tragic accident that claimed the life of Lagos-based photographer and biker, Kola Samuel Orowole better known as OniFoto, on Sunday afternoon.

The account was shared by a Facebook user, Rita Egwu, who said she received the information directly from someone who witnessed the incident.

According to the eyewitness, the crash occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Lagos shortly after she arrived in the area. Contrary to speculation that the vehicle involved was parked, she stated that the car was making a U-turn at the time of the collision.

She recalled that a driver at the scene reacted in shock, reportedly saying, “Ahhh, the speed too much,” suggesting that speed may have contributed to the impact.

The eyewitness emphasized that OniFoto was fully dressed in protective riding gear from head to toe, noting that he was properly equipped at the time of the crash.

The vehicle involved was described as a nude or light-brown Toyota Corolla. According to the account, the collision left a dent on the passenger-side door and damaged the side mirror.

She said the driver of the car stopped immediately and, along with other passengers, got out to assist. At the time, OniFoto was reportedly still breathing, and efforts were made to determine if cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) could be administered.

Emergency responders were said to have arrived promptly at the scene. The eyewitness noted that an ambulance arrived within five minutes, while officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were also on ground shortly after the crash. She added that the swift response might offer some comfort to the deceased’s family.

The eyewitness further stated that several bystanders recorded the aftermath of the incident but said she could not bring herself to look closely at the scene.

Kola OniFoto, known for his work as a photographer and his passion for motorcycles, has since been mourned by friends, colleagues and followers on social media.
