FG declares two public holidays for Easter celebration

The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora.

He urged citizens to reflect on the core values of Easter—selflessness, forgiveness, love, and sacrifice—as exemplified by Jesus Christ. He also emphasized the need for unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national development, the minister noted that ongoing policies are aimed at fostering economic growth and shared prosperity.

He concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
