The Nikki Udezue Foundation (NUF) has called on Nigerians to increase their participation in charitable activities and community-driven programs.
Mrs. Nkeiruka Udezue, the convener of NUF, appealed to the foundation’s HEAL medical outreach in Pyakasa, a community in Abuja.
The outreach provided free medical services, including consultations, laboratory tests, health education, and essential medicines, to approximately 1,000 members of the community.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Udezue stressed that for Nigeria to move forward, every citizen must actively engage in efforts to make a positive impact.
She emphasized that more initiatives like the outreach are needed to address healthcare gaps in underserved areas and to foster national development.
The outreach took place on Saturday, coinciding with the foundation’s fourth anniversary.
It aimed to highlight the importance of community support in tackling local health challenges.
Dr. Emeka Udezue, a consultant radiologist, noted that the foundation has been running similar outreach programs for four years, offering free healthcare services to various communities.
Dr. Francis Chinweuba, a paediatrician, pointed out that the outreach had uncovered common health issues such as malaria, high blood pressure, and diabetes, which the foundation intends to help address in the future.
The foundation hopes that by expanding these efforts to more areas, it can inspire other Nigerians and organizations to get involved and replicate such charitable initiatives across the country.
