Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace after passengers were left stranded for nearly 10 hours at London’s Gatwick Airport following a flight delay.

Akindele said travellers, including elderly passengers, had been stuck since early morning without access to their luggage, hotel accommodation, or clear updates from the airline. According to her, passengers were initially informed that a bird strike caused the disruption and were promised hotel arrangements, which had yet to materialise hours later.

She described the situation as unacceptable, noting that many people were tired, hungry, and still waiting at the baggage claim area without their belongings.

In response, Air Peace apologised for the inconvenience, explaining that the delay was due to circumstances beyond its control and reiterating its commitment to passenger safety. The airline added that efforts were ongoing to assist affected travellers and asked for patience.

As of the time of reporting, there was no confirmation that passengers had received their luggage or hotel accommodation.
