There was panic in Lagos on Tuesday after a fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle caught fire while moving along the Mile 12 Bridge on Ikorodu Road.
The incident, which occurred mid-morning, sent shockwaves through commuters and motorists plying the busy corridor as the high-capacity bus was suddenly engulfed in flames.
Eyewitnesses said passengers acted quickly, scrambling out of the vehicle before the fire spread further. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded, as all occupants were safely evacuated.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly to emergency calls and, alongside other responders, brought the blaze under control.
The burnt vehicle was subsequently cleared from the bridge to ease traffic congestion in the area.
Authorities have yet to officially determine the cause of the fire as investigations continue.
