The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is monitoring 33 constituency projects valued at N2.1 billion across the three senatorial districts of Lagos State.

The projects, being implemented by various Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), are spread across Lagos Central, Lagos East and Lagos West.

The ICPC Assistant Director, Public Education Unit in Lagos, Mrs Mary Omonoyan, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

She said the seven-day monitoring exercise is aimed at determining whether the projects were executed according to approved specifications, assessing the quality of work delivered by contractors and verifying whether communities are receiving the intended benefits.

The projects cover sectors including roads, education, healthcare, water supply and electricity.

Omonoyan said the exercise was particularly important given the N2.1 billion in public funds committed to the 33 projects.

She added that the commission had intensified its monitoring of constituency projects nationwide to identify abandoned, poorly executed or non-existent projects and prevent the diversion of public funds.

The ICPC said the exercise would also promote greater public scrutiny and encourage residents across the three senatorial districts to demand accountability from implementing agencies and contractors.
