Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He announced his decision on Thursday during a meeting with party leaders, members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, and supporters in Ikeja.
Jandor explained that his withdrawal followed recent developments within the party, particularly the endorsement of the current Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, his earlier stance to align with the President’s direction informed his decision to step down from the race shortly after purchasing his nomination forms.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and respect the party’s internal processes, stressing the importance of unity and discipline within the APC. Jandor also reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and expressed confidence in its internal democratic structure.
Meanwhile, Hamzat, who has already secured his nomination form, is said to have the backing of key party stakeholders, including the Governance Advisory Council and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
