Police Launch Investigation as School Community Mourns

A 48-year-old teacher at the prestigious Kings College, Lagos, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, was found dead under unclear circumstances inside a classroom on Saturday evening, sending shockwaves through the school community.

The Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele, reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command around 7:40 p.m., after he was alerted to the discovery of Mr. Akano’s lifeless body within the school premises, located at No. 3, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.

According to police sources, a team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the scene. The classroom was cordoned off, and forensic officers conducted a thorough inspection. While photographs were taken for documentation, investigators noted that there were no visible signs of violence or struggle on the body.

Mr. Akano, who hailed from Oyo State, was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, Odan, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited in the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that a full-scale investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s sudden death.

“We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness. Every effort is being made to determine the cause of death and ensure that no detail is overlooked,” a police spokesperson stated.

The tragic development has thrown the Kings College community into mourning, with colleagues and students describing Mr. Akano as a dedicated educator and calm personality.

Authorities say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
