The Lagos State Government has appointed Gbaye Omolola Florence as the substantive General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).
Her appointment was formally conveyed in a letter presented to her by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.
Gbaye, who had served as Acting General Manager since her deployment to LASBCA in August 2025, succeeds the former General Manager, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB) and a registered builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), Gbaye has over 22 years of professional experience in building regulation and compliance, project coordination, construction management and project execution.
As Acting General Manager, she strengthened collaboration between LASBCA and professionals in the built environment sector, with emphasis on professionalism, regulatory compliance and efforts to sanitise the building sector.
Her substantive appointment is expected to consolidate the agency’s efforts to enforce the Lagos State Building Codes and Regulations through sustained monitoring, effective enforcement and stronger engagement with building owners, developers and other stakeholders.
Speaking during the presentation, Agoro expressed confidence in Gbaye’s competence and experience, urging her to remain dedicated, diligent and selfless in the discharge of her duties.
He said the appointment reflected the confidence reposed in her by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and charged her to justify it through purposeful leadership, adherence to professional standards and effective delivery of LASBCA’s mandate.
Gbaye thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for the confidence placed in her, as well as the Head of Service and other state officials for their support.
She also appreciated LASBCA staff, built environment professionals, stakeholders and Lagos residents for their cooperation, pledging to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen building control, improve compliance and promote a safer, sustainable and well-regulated built environment in the state.
