The Lagos State Government has arrested a suspected vandal for allegedly removing structural components from a concrete road barrier at Kosofe Bus Stop, Mile 12, along the Ikorodu Road.

The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the arrest on Saturday, saying the suspect was apprehended during monitoring and enforcement operations on Friday.

According to Wahab, the suspect was allegedly caught removing iron rods, cables, steel reinforcements and other components from the barrier, which was installed to prevent pedestrians from crossing the expressway at unauthorised points.

He said the suspect had been arrested and would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Wahab reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting public infrastructure and safeguarding the lives of residents and road users.

The arrest comes amid renewed enforcement against vandalism of public infrastructure across Lagos. On Friday, 27 suspected hoodlums were also arrested in connection with the alleged vandalism of a bridge linking Festac Town to Alakija.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered the arrest and prosecution of persons found vandalising public infrastructure across the state.
