Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has expressed shock over a massive increase in his electricity bill.
His bill skyrocketed from N2.7 million in March to a staggering N29 million in April, courtesy of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo).
Billing Challenges
Dr Hamzat shared his experience during a discussion on Victoria Island, attended by representatives from the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Lagos State Government.
He highlighted the struggles of Lagos residents with estimated billing, citing an example of a resident in Coker Aguda, Surulere, who received a bill of N2.8 million, surpassing his annual rent of N2 million.
Metred Billing a Challenge
Despite procuring a meter to avoid estimated billing, Hamzat faced challenges converting it, further emphasizing the need for efficient and accurate billing systems.
