The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to an additional 250 beneficiaries under the Eko Cares/Eko Listens Financial Assistance Programme, as part of its ongoing social intervention efforts.
Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, confirmed the disbursement in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos. He said the cheques were distributed through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement.
According to Tajudeen, the programme is aimed at improving the standard of living of vulnerable residents across the state and strengthening public confidence in the government’s commitment to service delivery.
He described the initiative as a deliberate effort to put smiles on the faces of indigent Lagosians and ensure they enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Tajudeen reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration’s dedication to the welfare and well-being of residents, noting that 400 beneficiaries had earlier received financial support under the scheme.
He advised beneficiaries to use the funds wisely for productive purposes, cautioning against spending on non-essential items. He also encouraged them to enrol in the Ilera-Eko Health Insurance Scheme, managed by the Lagos State Health Management Agency, to access affordable and quality healthcare.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration remains committed to providing accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents,” he said.
Tajudeen further urged beneficiaries to actively engage with government policies and programmes to promote civic awareness and strengthen public participation in governance.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Mr. Sholabomi Shashore, advised beneficiaries to promptly deposit their cheques to address their immediate financial needs.
