A Lagos-based model and thrift vendor known as Fems Thrift has expressed distress over what she claims is the possible collapse of her sexual assault case, despite presenting what she says includes medical reports and other evidence.
In a viral video shared on X, she broke down in tears, alleging that she and a friend were attacked by a man who lured them to what was presented as a modelling job in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos. She claimed the suspect raped them and used threats to intimidate them.
According to her account, the suspect also obtained private nude content from their phones and used it for blackmail. She further alleged that despite months of court appearances and submission of evidence, authorities are now suggesting there may not be sufficient grounds to proceed with the case.
She said: “We have been going to court since February. We submitted all the evidence, including medical reports. Now they are saying there is not enough evidence, and they want to free him.”
The case has sparked mixed reactions online. Some users expressed sympathy for the alleged victims and criticized the justice process, while others questioned the strength of the evidence and called for caution, urging that all sides, including the police and the accused, should be heard before conclusions are drawn.
