The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a car theft syndicate with the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of a stolen Toyota Hiace bus.

Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said in a statement on Sunday that operatives of the Command’s Tactical Team, Isheri, launched an intelligence-led operation after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle on August 1.

The principal suspect, 31-year-old Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi, was arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Further investigations led to the arrest of three of his accomplices in Kano StateYenusa Salihu (45), a mechanic; Baba Jero Idris (49), a car dealer; and Abdullahi Aliyu (41), a businessman. The stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus was also recovered in Kano.

The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, assuring Lagos residents and visitors that the Command remains committed to deploying advanced policing strategies to curb vehicle theft and bring perpetrators to justice.
