The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of the second phase of repair works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge (inbound Island), beginning Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the state has reviewed its traffic management plan to ease congestion experienced during the first phase of the project and ensure faster completion.

Under the new plan, vehicles approaching the repair zone will be diverted into one lane of the three-lane carriageway about 50 metres before the work area and will regain full access shortly after.

Motorists heading to Oshodi or Victoria Island are advised to use designated alternative routes, including the Ojota Slip Road to connect Ikorodu Road, Gbagada, or Funsho Williams Avenue, while those from Ikeja and environs are urged to pass through Maryland and link Eko Bridge or Ikorodu Road.

Mr. Osiyemi appealed to drivers to cooperate with traffic officers, maintain lane discipline, and make use of the advised diversions. He added that the partial closure of the bridge is necessary for ongoing maintenance aimed at improving road infrastructure.
