The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 26 suspects during a coordinated enforcement operation targeting street urchins, suspected drug dealers, illegal commercial motorcycle operators, street traders and other criminal elements in Victoria Island and Obalende.

The operation, carried out on Thursday, forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to improve public safety, restore environmental order and enforce relevant state laws across Lagos.

According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, enforcement teams raided Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island and the Obalende Underbridge, leading to the arrests.

He said operatives also recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and other illicit drugs during the exercise.

Abdulraheem added that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas following the operation.

He noted that all 26 suspects would be prosecuted under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
