In preparation for the 10th edition of the Lagos Women Run scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth movement across affected routes.
The 10-kilometre race, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) in partnership with private organisers, will kick off at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and finish at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan. The event is expected to commence by 6:00 a.m.
According to the state government, certain roads around the race route will experience partial closures during the event. Affected areas include TBS, Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Officers Mess, Bonny Camp Bridge, State House, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, Onikan Roundabout and Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Traffic officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC) will be deployed to coordinate movement and ensure the safety of both participants and road users.
As part of the traffic advisory, motorists heading from Ozumba Mbadiwe towards the Third Mainland Bridge are advised to divert through Bonny Camp to Onikan Underpass, linking the Marina Exit to Force Road on to Outer Marina before connecting the bridge.
Similarly, drivers coming from Apongbon and heading towards Ikoyi are advised to use Odunlami Street to link Igbosere Road through Moloney Street to connect Ikoyi Road.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, appealed to road users to cooperate with traffic officers and exercise patience, stating that the restrictions are temporary and will be lifted gradually as the race progresses.
He assured that all affected routes will be reopened immediately after the last participant has passed.
