LASU student killed in Igando crash, driver in Police custody

The Lagos State Police Command has detained a driver allegedly responsible for the death of a student of Lagos State University (LASU) in a tragic motor accident at Igando.

The incident, which occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, claimed the life of a female student identified as Azeezat. According to a statement shared via the command’s official X handle, officers responded promptly after the accident was reported, with the Divisional Police Officer in Igando visiting the scene.

Police confirmed that the victim died from injuries sustained in the crash and her body has been deposited at a mortuary. The driver involved is currently in custody, while the vehicle linked to the incident has been impounded as part of ongoing investigations.

Authorities added that the case has been transferred to the Area Command for further handling, assuring the public that due legal process will be followed.

Meanwhile, tension rose after a video circulating on social media showed students protesting at the Area M Police Division, alleging attempts by officers to shield the driver. The protesting students are demanding justice for the deceased.
