DStv will rename M-Net Movies 2 to M Movies+ on September 16, 2026, the same day M-Net Movies 1 is set to leave the platform.
The change was disclosed by veteran broadcasting journalist Thinus Ferreira, who said MultiChoice Africa plans to rename the channel as part of changes to DStv’s line-up.
MultiChoice LicenceCo, DStv’s South African operator, did not confirm or deny whether the two M-Net Movies channels would effectively be merged.
The development follows the company’s announcement that M-Net Movies 1, kykNET Lekker, Mzansi Bioskop and Mzansi Music will cease broadcasting at 11:59 p.m. on September 16.
LicenceCo said the changes are part of an ongoing review of DStv’s channel line-up, aimed at responding to changing viewing habits and concentrating similar content on fewer, stronger channels.
DStv will also introduce several SuperSport channel changes from September 19, including SuperSport Football Plus, SuperSport Africa, SuperSport KickOff and SuperSport Extra 2.
