The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the public to the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles after undeclared milk and egg allergens were discovered in the product, posing serious health risks to people with allergies or intolerances.

The warning was contained in Public Alert No. 041/2025, dated December 18, 2025. According to NAFDAC, the recall was initiated by Rappel Conso of France, the country’s food safety authority, following laboratory tests that confirmed the presence of milk and egg allergens not declared on the product label.

NAFDAC explained that the recall affects all batches of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026. The country of origin of the product was not specified in the recall notice.

In a statement, the agency noted that although the official risk of the product entering Nigeria is considered low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, there is still a need for heightened vigilance to prevent possible illegal entry or circulation.

NAFDAC described Indomie noodles as a widely consumed household food across many countries because of their affordability and convenience but warned that the presence of undeclared milk and egg ingredients could trigger severe allergic reactions in susceptible consumers.

To mitigate the risk, the agency said it has activated nationwide surveillance measures. All zonal directors and state coordinators have been instructed to intensify monitoring and immediately seize and remove the recalled product if found anywhere in the country.

NAFDAC also advised distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and ensure the recalled product is neither distributed, sold, nor consumed. Members of the public who encounter the affected noodles are urged to discard them immediately.

The agency further encouraged Nigerians to report any sightings or suspected sales of the recalled Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or through its toll-free line, 0800-162-3322. Any adverse reactions linked to the product should also be reported via NAFDAC offices or the agency’s online reporting platforms.
