The African Development Bank (AfDB) has announced plans to focus on reforms, strengthen partnerships, and empower youths and women during the first 100 days of its new leadership.

The newly elected AfDB President, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, outlined this plan to stakeholders, development partners, private sector representatives, and African leaders.

He said the bank must act urgently to tackle Africa’s development challenges by speeding up its operations, dismantling bureaucratic bottlenecks, and mobilising resources for inclusive growth.

He added that empowering youths and women requires finance, mentorship, and technology to unlock the continent’s potential.

Tah made this announcement on Monday during his inaugural speech in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

He explained that his administration would launch a fast-track reform agenda, deepen partnerships with African and global institutions, involve the private sector, and implement practical measures to create jobs, expand access to finance, and improve delivery across the continent.

He assured that the bank under his leadership would bridge divides between regions, the public and private sectors, and ambition and execution, declaring that the time for action had begun.
