Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) President Dr. Jani Ibrahim has called for disciplined policy execution and stronger accountability to boost Nigeria’s economic growth.

He appealed during the Worldstage Nigeria Macroeconomic Outlook 2026 event, themed “Nigeria’s Economy: Getting it Right.”

Ibrahim said that Nigeria’s economic potential alone cannot guarantee development.

“Although Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is approaching 350 billion dollars, and growth projections remain positive, the country’s potential alone is insufficient to guarantee development,” he said.

He urged a new economic approach based on discipline, diversification, digital transformation, and decentralization.

Ibrahim warned that failure to implement reforms effectively could create a cycle of “reforms without results.”

He stressed that “getting it right is not an option, it is an obligation,” calling for measurable outcomes and institutional accountability.

Separately, WorldStage Ltd. President Segun Adeleye highlighted the need to strengthen Nigeria’s media sector for sustainable economic growth.

He noted that tariff reductions on newsprint, plates, chemicals, and broadcast equipment may have limited impact due to digital transitions.

Adeleye recommended that companies allocate at least 80 per cent of advertising budgets to Nigerian media under the “Nigeria First” policy.

He added that many top firms still spend heavily on foreign platforms despite generating profits locally.

Adeleye praised Zenith Bank, NLNG, the Central Bank of Nigeria, NNPC Ltd., Linkage Assurance, and Fidelity Bank for supporting the macroeconomic outlook project.
