The CEO of Datametrics Associates Limited, Dr. Abiodun Feyikemi Ipadeola, has urged Nigerians to support public hospitals and boost healthcare workers’ morale through simple acts of appreciation.
Speaking in Abuja ahead of the 2026 World Health Day, themed “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” she called on citizens to play an active role in strengthening Nigeria’s health system.
“Midwives should be encouraged to ensure safe delivery, and nurses should be supported to take proper care of patients. We can all be impactful in our own little ways,” Ipadeola said.
She highlighted that small gestures—thanking staff, offering water, or helping patients—can ease financial burdens and improve service delivery in under-resourced facilities.
Ipadeola shared that her advocacy was inspired by a visit to the government hospital where she was born, marking her 40th birthday by giving cash gifts to new mothers.
“During my visit, I supported mothers who delivered at the hospital on my birthday with a cash gift, a gesture that brought relief to all the families that benefited from the donation,” she said.
She emphasized that improving healthcare cannot rest solely on government efforts and urged citizens to adopt a culture of giving back.
“You can imagine going to the hospital to give birth and returning home not just with your baby, but also with unexpected support,” Ipadeola added.
She concluded that collective grassroots efforts can significantly enhance outcomes for mothers, children, and healthcare workers nationwide.
