The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended its nationwide strike following a resolution of its dispute with the Dangote Group.

NUPENG had on Monday declared an industrial action to protest what it described as the company’s refusal to allow its workers to join the union.

However, the strike was called off after both parties reached a truce at a meeting convened by the Department of State Services (DSS). The talks were attended by the Ministers of Labour and Finance, as well as officials of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The Dangote Group delegation was led by Seyu Dantata.

Details of the agreement reached at the meeting were yet to be disclosed as of press time.
