Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, on Sunday watched the Nigeria Premier Football League fixture between Ikorodu City FC and Enugu Rangers International FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Obi was seen in the stands alongside the President of Ikorodu City FC, Sanmi Doherty, as the Lagos-based side defeated the defending champions 2-0.
Videos shared on X by sports photojournalist Pooja Media showed the former Anambra State governor watching the game and interacting with people around him.
Another video showed fans approaching Obi for photographs during the half-time break.
Photographs posted by Obi’s photographer, Esther Umoh, also showed him posing with members of the Enugu Rangers team.
Ikorodu City shared a video of Obi’s appearance on its X account, welcoming him to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as the club hosted Rangers in the Matchday Six fixture of the 2026/27 NPFL season.
The hosts took the lead in the eighth minute through Aderemi Adeoye before Ikechukwu Junior doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute to secure a 2-0 victory.
Obi’s appearance at the fixture comes as the NDC continues preparations for the 2027 general election.
Earlier in September, the party announced that Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had been authorised to nominate key officials of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
