Peter Obi has announced his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing deepening internal crises, court cases, and divisions within the party.
In a statement released on Sunday, Obi said his decision followed prolonged “internal battles, suspicion, and division” that he believes have weakened the party’s focus on national issues.
He clarified that his departure was not due to personal disagreements with party leaders, including former Senate President David Mark and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he said he continues to respect.
According to him, external political forces and recurring crises similar to those experienced in other political platforms had begun to affect the ADC, creating instability and distraction from governance-oriented politics.
Obi added that the situation within the party had shifted attention away from national development toward internal struggles, making his continued involvement difficult.
