One person has died while three others sustained injuries following the collapse of a building on Akinola Street, off Ikorodu Road, in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State, on Friday morning.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident, saying emergency responders had launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to locate and evacuate victims who might still be trapped beneath the rubble.
The cause of the collapse had yet to be established as rescue teams worked to determine the number of site workers who might remain trapped in the debris.
LASEMA said it was coordinating the emergency response in collaboration with other relevant agencies and emergency personnel to ensure an effective rescue operation.
The agencies involved include the Lagos Response Unit paramedics, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASASA) and the Alakara Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
The rescue operation was ongoing as emergency personnel continued efforts to establish the full extent of the incident and account for anyone who might still be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
