The State Publicity Secretary of the APC in Kebbi, Issa Abubakar-Asalafi, has stated that the ruling party stands to gain from the deepening crisis within the opposition parties in the state.
He linked the party’s advantage to ongoing divisions within PDP and ADC, which continue to struggle with internal disputes.
“As you can see, we are following the development because politics is a game of numbers,” he said.
He stated that the lack of unity among opposition figures has weakened their ability to mount a strong challenge.
“It’s glaring that they cannot put their houses in order,” he added.
Developments within the opposition, including the movement of a former PDP governorship candidate to another platform, have further exposed cracks.
He said differences in political ambition among key actors continue to fuel instability within their ranks.
“Just give them like two months, all of them will leave their parties and will seek to join the APC,” he said.
He expressed confidence that more defections would follow as the crisis persists.
“With this development of crises in all the opposition parties, we have confidence that the elections will be won in our favour… with over 70 per cent,” he stated.
Recent defections by lawmakers into APC have also strengthened the party’s position ahead of future elections in Kebbi.
