Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey have been named in the official Team of the Tournament for the just-concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the Best XI on Wednesday, recognising standout performers from across the competition.
Osimhen scored four goals and registered two assists for the Super Eagles as Nigeria claimed the bronze medal for a record ninth time. Lookman emerged as the tournament’s most productive attacker, scoring four goals and providing three assists to earn a place in the Team of the Tournament for the second consecutive AFCON.
Bassey was also a key figure in Nigeria’s campaign, delivering commanding defensive performances throughout the competition. The 26-year-old marshalled the Super Eagles’ backline, which recorded clean sheets through the knockout stages.
The Team of the Tournament also features Senegal’s Sadio Mané, who was named Player of the Tournament, Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, the Golden Boot winner and top scorer, and Yassine Bono, who claimed the Best Goalkeeper award.
Other players included are Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye, Achraf Hakimi, Moussa Niakhaté and Noussair Mazraoui.
Senegal emerged champions of the 2025 AFCON after defeating hosts Morocco 1–0 in extra time in a dramatic final, while Nigeria secured third place following a penalty shootout victory over Egypt.
