The Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has dismissed as false a viral report circulating on social media that Ozumba Mbadiwe Road in Victoria Island has been renamed.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Office of the Executive Chairman described the report as “misleading, unfounded, and untrue,” stressing that no directive or approval had ever been issued regarding a name change for the major road.

“The name Ozumba Mbadiwe Road remains valid and unchanged. At no time did the Iru-Victoria Island LCDA authorize or approve its renaming,” the statement read.

The council urged the public to disregard the rumour entirely and desist from spreading unverified information capable of causing confusion among residents.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the LCDA assured residents and stakeholders of timely dissemination of accurate information concerning developments within the area.
